Mr. Robert (Rob) Blake is the chief of the Environmental Health Services Branch, part of the National Centers for Environmental Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. He has held the position since July 2007.
Mr. Blake’s major professional accomplishments for the CDC EH Services Branch include:
- starting an internship program for students from accredited academic programs of EH;
- developing relationship with the Department of Homeland Security for delivery of emergency response training for EH professionals;
- creating budget initiatives for food safety, water protection and EH workforce;
- launching climate change work about drought and water re-use;
- initiating an FDA – NCEH/ATSDR Leadership Forum for a wide range of food protection issues; and
- ensuring that EH issues are included in the voluntary agency accreditation process
Mr. Blake is past president of the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). He is also the past Chair of the National Conference of Local Environmental Health Administrators (NCLEHA), the Metro-Atlanta Environmental Health Directors group, and the Metro Atlanta Surveillance Task Force (MASTF). Mr. Blake continues to serve as the CDC Environmental Health Services Branch representative to the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Environmental Health Committee and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) Environmental Health Directors workgroup.
