Ian is a microbiologist and manages food safety and other market access-relevant research for Meat & Livestock Australia. The food safety program’s role is to understand and help industry and government to manage food safety risks and market access. Ian hold a bachelors degree in microbiology and biotechnology and a masters degree in chemical engineering, both from the University of New South Wales, in Sydney Australia. Ian’s career has spanned industrial fermentation and a wide variety of fermented foods researching the microbiological aspects and managing food safety and quality. Throughout his career he has been involved in the translation of research into practice.
