Alan Reilly is Chief Executive of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) and Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Agriculture, Food Science and Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin. He has over 30 years experience working in food safety. Before joining the Authority in 1999 he worked in the Food Safety Programme of the World Health Organization in Geneva. He has spent a number of years in the UK scientific civil service and has worked as a visiting Associate Professor at the College of Fisheries, University of the Philippines. He is a member of the Advisory Forum of the European Food Safety Authority and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Food Information Council. He also acts as a food safety advisor to the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the WHO International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN).
