Dr. Manpreet Singh is an Professor and Extension Food Safety Specialist in the Department of Food Science and technology at University of georgia.

He was a member of the faculty at Purdue University Department of Food Science since July 2013 and prior to that in the Department of Poultry Science at Auburn University from 2007 until 2013. He was appointed for a two-year term by the US secretary of Agriculture, Thomas Vilsack to the US National Advisory Committee for Meat and Poultry Inspection in January 2013. Dr. Singh earned his B.S. in Agricultural Science from Punjab Agricultural University, M.S. in Food Science from Kansas State University and a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology with emphasis in Food Microbiology from Iowa State University.

His research focuses on impact of food processing on safety of foods; validation of novel intervention strategies to control foodborne pathogens in production and processing environments; prevalence, persistence, and antimicrobial resistance of foodborne pathogens in poultry production and processing environments. He coordinates the statewide food safety extension efforts at Purdue University specifically trainings related to food handlers, and new food entrepreneurs. Dr. Singh provides educational seminars, workshops and presentations on Food Safety Trends and Issues, Food Microbiology, Emerging Pathogens, HACCP and Prerequisite programs, Environmental Monitoring, and other contemporary food industry topics for a wide variety of audiences. He is active in several scientific and professional organizations, including the International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).
