Mark Tamplin is in the internationally recognised Food Safety Centre at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture. He is co-founder of the largest on-line food microbiology database, ComBase. He led the formation of a Master in Applied Science-Food Safety specialisation. Mark holds a PhD in Medical Sciences, with a speciality in Medical Microbiology & Immunology. His service on committees and panels includes the World Health Organization, Food & Agricultural Organization, US Centers for Disease Control, and three terms on the US National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods, appointed by the Secretary of the USDA. He is currently serving a third term as Fellow with Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ). He has published 110 journal articles, 12 book chapters, been cited ~3,000 times, and has helped secure more than $17 million in extramural funding.
